When you sit in ROZ's Florida room,
you can watch GOD's creatures play.
Some skittish ones come only at night,
while others stay all through the day.

My favorite ones I had to name
so a story I could tell.
To give you a glimpse of what it is like
and why the time spent was so swell.

First of all, Sleepy, a lazy young squirrel
was as funny as funny could be.
He ate and he ate and then ate some more.
Oh my! He could not even climb up the tree.

We laughed as he crawled a few feet away
and stretched out on the ground for a rest.
He went limp as a noodle unable to move.
No chance to return to his nest.

Nadia, the bluejay was - splendid indeed,
with a tip white as snow on her tail.
She hopped with the grace of a young athlete.
As she danced through the bird seeded trail.

The Cardinals I think were the King and the Queen.
So elegantly dressed every day.
Kentucky, the male, in his royal red cloak.
While Virginia's dress looked like a fine Georgia clay.

Last but not least, our masked friends arrive
long after the sun disappears.
Each wearing rings on their long furry tails.
But to count them may bring you to tears.

The Jesse James Gang we lovingly called them,
For they were quite viscous and wild.
They chattered like monkeys and punched in the snout.
Their manner was not very mild.

So there you have it, the show of the day.
Where GOD's creatures eat, run, and play.
And if you're aware of a lonely young fellow,
Roz's Refuge is open all day.
